Old post, but:

Saber is doing a great job and i am glad she did not go for Khul but pursued her rights.

Statements like these are highly loaded.

Islam allows for both a "normal" divorce and Khul. Both are deemed to be "fair" (within an Islamic context), but they are for different circumstances.

I suppose my point is that this post doesn't really explain what Khul is, or why it is inappropriate (in general? in Egypt only?).

The high divorce is not the real question that is being sidelined, it is about women's right to divorce. Saber is doing a great job and i am glad she did not go for Khul but pursued her rights.
